The Goat Broke Loose

The Goat Broke Loose

The Goat Broke Loose is Vermont’s most dynamic and exciting Zydeco Band. They have played throughout New England, including at the New World Festival, the Quechee Balloon Festival, and the Champlain Valley Festival. They play traditional Zydeco dance music from Southwest Louisianan, as well as blues, funk and swamp-pop.

Guitarist Ted Mortimer has played with Bo Didely, and is founder of Dr. Burma, the Upper Valley’s most popular dance band, whose members also include Goat regulars Linda Boudreault, (whose singing conjures up Bonnie Rait and Aretha Franklin) and Marcus Copening, whose is the best drummer in the entire state of Vermont. Bassist Colin McCaffrey fronts his own band, The Stone Cold Roosters and he holds the Goats together with his solid and driving bass playing. Rubboard virtuoso Monica Robelotto is truly that: someone who can take a piece of metal and turn it into a symphony orchestra. She is a concert pianist in her spare time. Bandleader and founder Jeremiah McLane plays accordion in the style of the King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier, and he brings his own brand of Franco-American music to the driving pulsating blend of music that truly sounds as if the Goat has Broken Loose!
